Sarai Cruzan

My name is Sarai Cruzan, I am originally from Cortez Colorado and moved to Grand Junction to attend Colorado Mesa University where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in ceramics. Before college, I had very little ceramics experience but I fell in love with the process. Harkening back to my childhood helped me find my voice in this new art form. As a child I found myself drawing flowers and wanting to understand how to make them appear to grow out of the paper. Through the use of mishima and sgraffito I am able to translate that same idea onto functional pieces. My hope is to create pieces that celebrate natural beauty and give the user an everyday sense on elegance.
